You’ve done a course, now what?
I get lots of people who do one or more of my courses who are inspired to take up sculpture themselves, and so I often get asked what would be useful to buy. So here’s a document that I put together to give you some idea.
Tools, tools, tools, tools, tools.
Acquiring your own equipment can be daunting. You don’t need to spend a huge amount to get started, but it can be addictive!.This was my collection a few years into carving. It’s a bit bigger now.
Whilst Sculpture-in-a-Day is my most popular course, I also offer one-to-one courses or mentoring to develop the skills you’ve learned. This could be a couple of days carving a bigger piece, or just help getting started on it. Or it could be a day or more carving together on a piece that you feel could be otherwise daunting or perhaps some time carving with more specialist equipment on different stone. Contact me to discuss your needs.
1-to-1 teaching and mentoring
A client working on a much larger piece of stone. M had already completed two Sculpture-in-a-Day courses and wanted to move on to bigger pieces. She spent two days getting the bones of this piece worked out then finished it at home. We worked in parallel in my studio for these two days, with her developing the piece under my guidance. She then took it home to finish under her own steam.
